The newest 2018 Range Rover model boasts a number of upgrades, but the biggest news is that the automaker will debut a plug-in hybrid model for its 2019 line.
Dubbed the Range Rover Sport P400e, the new plug-in is powered by a 296-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with a 114-hp electric motor. The combination produces 398 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque.
The power is pushed to all four wheels thanks to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, and the Sport can zoom from zero-to-60 mph in just 6.3 seconds with its hybrid drivetrain and quick-shifting gearbox. Topping out at 137 mph, the P400e is able to travel 31 miles using only electric power. That should accommodate the daily commute for many, with nary a wallet-slimming stop at the pump.
The SVR variant of the Range Rover Sport was upgraded as well, and now features a supercharged V8 engine that produces 575 horsepower. The mid-year update also involves a number of exterior upgrades, including a carbon-fiber hood, bigger bumper grilles, slimmer fog lights, and LED headlights.
