With over 250 international galleries participating, from 31 countries, and only four days (and 3 nights!) of exhibitions, serious parties and networking – and with celebrities, art stars, investors and money flooding into South Florida to celebrate Art Basel Miami Beach (officially kicking off another hot winter season!) – MIAMI is the place right now to see and be scene.
From its home base at the Miami Beach Convention Center, radiating outward to encompass renowned satellite fairs, the downtown Wynwood Miami Arts District and A-list self-expression, the 2015 Miami Art Basel promises to be a frenzied yet extraordinarily managed affair. As always, the multi-disciplinary event will be divided into bite-sized “sectors”, including the Collins Park Public sector and a dynamic Film sector, curated by David Gryn / Artprojx. Still, with so much to do, see and experience in so little time, it can easily become overwhelming!
How to navigate such an enormous display of art, crowds, traffic, nightlife and pop-up shopping?
Like the world’s most visited art venue, the Musée du Louvre in still beautiful Paris, it’s impossible to take in all of Art Basel. Not only are its more easily digestible sectors a necessity, but when visiting Art Basel, it’s important to remember to FOCUS: Is there a favorite artist that you enjoy, or a special gallery? For me, it would be poetic, figurative Marc Chagall, and for gallery, the contemporary Galerie Lelong.
